Willard Katsande reacts to his first win: ‘I’m so happy and relieved….’

Willard Katsande has opened up about his first win at the helm of Rangers FC in the Northern Region Soccer League, his maiden role as a head coach in Zimbabwe.
Katsande took over Chinhoyi-based Rangers FC at the start of the current season, having previously been based in South Africa where he had an illustrious career.
In South Africa, Katsande spent a decade at Kaizer Chiefs and one season at Sekhukhune United. He has also been running his Kitoko Soccer School.
When he returned to Zimbabwe as a coach, it wasn’t easy, as it took him seven matches to register a win in the 22-team league.
Katsande’s record stands at one win, four draws, and two defeats. His win came over the weekend when they beat MWOS Under-19s 3-1 on Sunday.
Simply put, Katsande said he is relieved but is already bracing for a tough challenge against Chegutu Pirates at home.
“I’m really happy with the progress we’ve made with the team, and I’m seeing the philosophy I brought to the table being implemented on the pitch,” Katsande told Fanzone.
“The players are buying in, and that’s crucial. I knew we were going to get a win; it’s just a matter of time. We’ve been dominating games, creating chances, but we’ve struggled to convert them.
“Finally, everything clicked. Very happy and proud of the players’ attitude and mentality – they have stuck to the plan, and it’s paid off.”
