Why Rodrick Mutuma has been a constant feature at DeMbare

For over a fortnight, Rodrick Mutuma, the retired footballer, has been featuring at Dynamos FC’s training. But the club has been mum about his official role.

Instead, “The Prince”, as he is affectionately known, revealed that he has been asked to play an inspirational role with the current crop of players.

However, Fanzone has established that Mutuma is being tested for the strikers’ coach role, which was occupied by Takesure Chinyama last season.

Chinyama was the club’s strikers’ coach last season but he left when the Kelvin Kaindu technical team was dissolved following the conclusion of the 2025 season.

The Harare giants are banking on Mutuma’s experience to steady a young squad buckling under the weight of expectation at the country’s biggest club.

Mutuma, who has been cutting his teeth in coaching, will start by mentoring the forwards through hands-on sessions. The club is expected to formalize his role as strikers’ coach in the coming days.

A true journeyman himself, Mutuma wore the colours of all three giants during his playing days — Dynamos, CAPS United and Highlanders.

In addition, his CV includes stints at Mimosa, Zimalloys, Nichrut, Yadah, Bloemfontein Celtic in South Africa, and FC Limpopo in DR Congo.
