“We have had enough!” Dynamos fans call for boycott of home matches

Disgruntled Dynamos fans, irked by their poor start to the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, have called for a boycott of all home games starting with this Sunday’s Harare derby against CAPS United.

The fading Harare giants have won just one of their opening eleven matches of the season and last celebrated a goal on March 30.

The setback resulted in the sacking of head coach Lloyd ‘Mablanyo’ Chigowe , who has since been replaced by Saul Chaminuka.

But Dynamos fans do not believe that the Glamour Boys’ main problem is a coaching issue; they reckon board chairman Bernard Marriot Lusengo should be more serious about the club.

To express their grievances, Dynamos fans have decided to temporarily abandon the club until things change.

They face equally struggling city rivals CAPS at Rufaro on Sunday, before travelling to Bulawayo to face old foes Highlanders.

DeMbare fans insist they will stay away from both matches as a way to protest to Marriot.

“As the Dynamos Football Club Supporters Association Harare Chapter, the Mother of All Chapters, the first and last line of defence, having noted for years on end the manner in which our club has been on a downward spiral, we have come to the unbearable conclusion to call on all our members and the blue and white faithful to peacefully boycott ALL Dynamos home matches until further notice,” reads a letter by a section of Dynamos fans calling themselves the Harare Chapter.

“We have been monitoring the goings-on of the club to give reference to the not-so-recent past of 11 years since our last league championship victory and feel hard done by the manner and conduct in which our once beloved Glamour Boys have turned out to be a team that has carelessly lost its pride and glitz.

“One is tempted to make reference to recent glories of the back-to-back Chibuku Super Cup knockout tournament victories by Dynamos, Chazunguza, The Glamour Boys, Mutunhu Usina Mago, 7 Million, Haina Ngozi, and more importantly, ‘Team Yenyika, which can only be measured by their success in the prized asset, that is, the Premier Soccer League title.

“Many coaches, qualified and capable in their own calibre, have been chopped and changed year in year out, but the script has embarrassingly remained the same.

“It is at this unpleasant juncture that we as supporters have come to the opinion that part of our 7 million voices need to be heard in a different tune, far away from our cherished Vietnam Stand.

“We have sacrificed so much for so long; we have lost brothers and sisters for this blue and white religion and feel a change in tone is needed.

“We harbour no ambitions of taking over control of the club but feel those at the helm of the club have also contributed to the muddy state we find ourselves in. Our problems stem beyond the technical setup, and they too ought to make sound and well-informed decisions.

“In appointing an executive whose experience is exceptional, it has always been our hope the club shares a vision that sees our Dembare scale to the heights of giants in Africa.

“A Dynamos FC Board and its Executive ought to have a decorated and proven record by now and (immensely) bettered the legacy left by their predecessors, projecting the club to where it wholesomely belongs.

The Board and current executive have dismally failed to lead us in that direction, and we have lost our confidence in the entire setup.

“Our expectation is any appointed executive ought to recruit a technical team whose credentials will not lead us into questioning the appointing authority’s decision(s) or capabilities.

“Over the years we have learnt of players owed signing-on fees stretching years and a failure to allow continuity by implementing a vibrant junior policy of players  graduation.”
