Warriors get another shot at glory in Unity Cup in London

Fresh from their Mukuru 4 Nations success story, the Warriors are set to participate in yet another four-nations tournament, the Unity Cup 2026, to be staged in London.

The team will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Jamaica, and India in the semi-finals, starting on 26 May 2026 at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic FC.

Simply put, Marian Marinica has been presented with another golden opportunity to test his squad, particularly the new players. Last time out, Marinica tested the mettle of players including Mongameli Tshuma, Panashe Makwiramiti, and Corbin Mthunzi.

WHAT ZIFA SAID

In a statement released on Wednesday, ZIFA confirmed the exciting development for Marian Marinica’s team, expressing enthusiasm for the opportunity ahead.

“This is a landmark moment for Zimbabwe football. It reflects our ambition to compete, grow, and test ourselves at a high international level,” said ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi.

Warriors’ coach Marian Marinica is on cloud nine after getting the golden opportunity. “This is a strong platform for us as a team and an important chance to represent Zimbabwe with pride on an international stage,” he said.

Captain Marvelous Nakamba added: “It’s always an honour to represent Zimbabwe, and playing in London in front of our supporters in the diaspora makes this occasion even more special.”

This will be the first time Zimbabwe takes on Jamaica and India in football. Furthermore, the tournament will be returning after a 22-year hiatus.
