Vhembe Stars Academy bank on Philemon Mutyakureva’s Dynamos experience

New Central Region Soccer League outfit Vhembe Stars Academy is buzzing following the appointment of former Dynamos assistant coach, Philemon Mutyakureva.

The Beitbridge based side is one of the five teams promoted into the first divisional league. The other four are Good Morning FC, Sabi Gold Mine FC, Super Strikers FC and Shurugwi FC.

Vhembe Stars Academy are angling to make a lasting impression in their maiden first division appearance and the appointment of Mutyakureva who worked under Saul Chaminuka during 2025 season is like icing on their cake.

Most importantly, Mutyakureva was Kalisto Pasuwa’s assistant coach during his trailblazing time at Dynamos where he won four league titles from 2011 to 2014. Mutyakureva joined in 2012 and helped the Dynamos win three league titles.

In addition, he has also been a vital cog at BN Soccer Academy, capped by brief stints at St George’s College in Harare. And his track record has left the Vhembe Stars Academy leadership buzzing with confidence.

Club secretary-general Foster Abheki said Mutyakureva’s Dynamos experience will be pivotal for their success in the Central Region. Mutyakureva was unveiled on Friday by the club.

“Today marks a significant day for Vhembe Stars Academy. We’re honored to have two experienced coaches on board. We’re joined by Mr. Philemon Mutyakureva, former assistant coach at Dynamos Football Club, and Mr. Blessing Madombi, who holds a CAF B coaching license. With their expertise, we’re confident in achieving our goals.

“Mr. Mutyakureva, who holds a CAF A coaching certificate, brings valuable experience from his recent stint at Dynamos. We’ll also be supported by second assistant coach, Paul Mugabiri. With this strong team in place, we’re poised for success,” he said
