Tsiphamba seals Kwekwe United deal, eyes PSL return

‎Former Manica Diamonds striker Babadi Tsiphamba has joined Kwekwe United on a one-year contract, linking up with his former coach Jairos Tapera, who is now the Technical Director at the Central Region Soccer League side.

‎Tsiphamba, who impressed with 12 goals in 10 appearances for Tongogara United in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League, had a six-month stint at Manica Diamonds, featuring eight times and helping the team escape relegation from the PSL in 2025.

‎Speaking to Fanzone, Tsiphamba expressed his excitement about the move: “I feel very good by sealing this deal with Kwekwe United. As a footballer, you get a lot of challenges through the career, but I thank God by being selected by Kwekwe United to be one of the players to represent them.”

‎Tsiphamba revealed that he was handpicked by Kwekwe United’s veteran coach Tendai Chikuni and Tapera, who scouted him during his time at Manica Diamonds. “For me to be at Kwekwe United, I was called and informed that the team needed to bounce back into the PSL, so they needed players who can do the job.”

‎Reflecting on his time at Manica Diamonds, Tsiphamba praised the support he received from his teammates and coaching staff. “My experience at Manica was a very good experience. I met with experienced players like Fortune Bhinzi, Evans Katema, and Brett Amidu, who is now at Caps. I really learnt a lot from coach Tafadzwa Mashiri because he really taught me a lot of things.”

‎Tsiphamba is eager to make an impact at Kwekwe United, which has also roped in veteran coach Chikuni. “To the Kwekwe United family, I can’t wait to meet them as we are going to play our first game in the Central Region Soccer League in March. They should expect goals from me, and their support and prayers will make us go forward,” added Tsiphamba.
