Triangle’s hard-earned draw heaps more pressure on Dynamos

A tense Castle Lager Premier Soccer League showdown at Rufaro Stadium saw Dynamos held to a goalless draw by Triangle FC, in a match that did little to ease the pressure on the Harare side. Triangle’s defensive discipline frustrated Dynamos throughout the first half, as the visitors pressed hard in search of a goal that would’ve boosted their push up the table.

In the second half, Dynamos introduced Denver Mukamba around the 50-minute mark, which lifted their performance and saw them create several meaningful chances. However, despite improved attacking spells, the hosts were unable to find a breakthrough.

The final whistle left tempers high. Dynamos players questioned the amount of added time after referee Thembinkosi Sibanda’s decisions drew ire. Some fans went as far as pelting the pitch with objects and obstructing the referee’s exit, prompting a police canine unit to escort the match officials from the stadium.

The draw means that Dynamos remain deep in the relegation battle, though they moved up one place to 16th with 29 points. Triangle FC now sit on 32 points in 12th, breathing a little easier but still wary of the drop.

For Triangle, the point is a valuable one, especially given their underdog status — they defended resolutely and seized control early in spells. Dynamos, meanwhile, will regret the missed chances and the lack of clinical finishing at home.

As the season nears its end, both sides will feel every fixture carries weight. Triangle will look to build on this momentum. Dynamos must find a response urgently, especially in front of their fans.
