Tottenham plan for life after Igor Tudor

Things have not worked out for Tottenham Hotspur and Igor Tudor, with sources claiming that the former Atalanta manager should be gone before the resumption of the season after the activities of the March international window.

Spurs hired Thomas Frank to take them to new heights at the beginning of the season following their 2024/25 UEFA Europa League victory under Ange Postecoglou. The Australian was sacked for his league performances, and the club’s board believes that Frank, a proven Premier League manager, would solidify their footing in the league, using their European success as an anchor.

Things did not work out, leading to Tudor’s appointment a few weeks ago. That experiment has also not worked out, and speculation over his future has filled the media space.

Those speculations seem to have been given life with sources from the club claiming that the board is planning to have him gone before the players return from international duty in two weeks. This comes after they were defeated 3 – 0 by Nottingham Forest in their last Premier League outing, worsening their chances of avoiding relegation for the 2025–26 season.

One source said, “It is hard to see him being in charge (after the international break) as the players are clearly not responding.
“If the club thinks the dressing room has turned, he will be gone.”

But another said, “As of right now, a change isn’t planned. But obviously talks are due during the international break.”

Some sources have also claimed that club icon Harry Redknapp has reached out to the club to help temporarily handle them until the end of the season to help them beat the drop.

Redknapp has done this before, saving them from relegation in 2008 and making them into top-five regulars before the era of Mauricio Pochettino made them genuine title contenders. Redknapp even won the Premier League manager of the year award after the 2009/10 season for how he turned the club’s fortunes around from relegation strugglers to top five contenders.

Though he is now 79, he is willing to help his team find stability once again as they carefully plan for the 2026/27 season.

Robbie Keane and Pochettino have also been linked with the job, but there is little merit to those reports. Others also claim that the club’s board are looking to convince former Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi to return to the Premier League and take the job.

It remains to be seen how they fare, as the general consensus is that their current situation will make it difficult to convince any manager to take up the position that could soon be left vacant by Tudor’s potential sacking.
