Warriors star Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has received rave reviews for his strong work ethic, with AmaZulu FC coach Arthur Zwane naming him as their best signing of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season so far.
On Sunday, Ngwenya rose from the bench to hit a brace that all but sealed AmaZulu FC’s win in a five-goal thriller. They won 3-2, with Ngwenya also providing an assist for the other goal. Ngwenya was voted Man of the Match.
Another Warriors man, Junior Zindoga, also scored a stunning goal for TS Galaxy. However, it is Ngwenya who stole the show and has moved within touching distance of the leading goalscorer.
He joined the KwaZulu-Natal in Junr from from four-time PSL Champions FC Platinum. With six goals under his belt, Ngwenya is tied on the same number of goals with Sekhukhune United’s Bradley Grobler and Iqraam Rayners, who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns. As it stands, Junior Dion of Golden Arrows leads the goal charts.
And Zwane has spoken glowingly of the former FC Platinum striker who continues to soar in the Betway Premiership.
“At home, no one should come out. And I think it paid off in the end. We managed to get the winner. And I must commend the players that came off the bench. Their impact was magical. So I think all the players deserve credit for the effort. Because what matters is getting the maximum points.
“And I think when Ngwenya came on, he did exactly that. And he also helped all of us. Athini [Maqokola] as well came alive and created. He was also heavily involved in those goals that we scored, which is good.
“The introduction of Ngwenya and Mhlongo gave us strength, explosiveness, and speed. I’m happy for Ngwenya and what he has done, and we’re going to be a difficult team to play against. He has been the best signing for us and I am happy, hopefully he keeps this fine form and makes sure that we remain on course,” Zwane said after the match.
