Solomon faces scrutiny after Fiorentina loan move

Tottenham Hotspur could receive a €10m payment if Fiorentina choose to complete a permanent transfer for Manor Solomon at the end of the campaign. The Italian club confirmed on Friday that the winger has arrived on a temporary agreement that includes an option to buy.

According to Gazzetta, that clause allows Fiorentina to retain the 26-year-old on a full-time basis for the stated fee. The arrangement follows Solomon’s earlier loan spell during the opening months of the 2025–26 season.

Before switching to Serie A, the Israel international featured for Villarreal, contributing one goal and one assist across six matches in Spain’s top division.

Sporting struggles frame a difficult arrival

Fiorentina’s league position has heightened the scrutiny surrounding the deal. The Tuscan side currently sit at the foot of the Serie A standings, having recorded only a single victory so far this season.

With pressure already mounting due to on-field results, the January acquisition has brought fresh complications away from football matters. Rather than easing tensions, the move has triggered a backlash among sections of the fanbase.

Supporters expressed their discontent through comments left on Fiorentina’s official Instagram and Facebook posts, voicing opposition to the signing shortly after it was announced.

Political reaction fuels local controversy

The criticism extended beyond supporters, drawing a response from local politics. Jacopo Madau, Culture Councillor in Sesto Fiorentino, publicly condemned the decision in a social media post.

“You are not welcome in Florence,” Madau wrote, following confirmation of Solomon’s arrival. He referenced the player’s previously stated political positions, arguing that someone who has shown support for the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should not represent either the city or the club.

His remarks added a political dimension to a transfer that has already become a source of controversy for Fiorentina during a difficult period.
