“Six of the worst.” FC Hunters fans demand apology after Kwekwe humiliation

FC Hunters hit a new low at Chahwanda Stadium yesterday.

Hardrock FC ran riot, hammering the PSL newboys 6-1 in Kwekwe.

It is the biggest winning margin in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this season, and the first time veteran coach Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera has shipped half a dozen in a league match.

Six goals. One nightmare.

The result leaves Hunters 14th on the log — 1 win, 5 draws, 4 losses, 8 points. But the scoreline has ripped open old wounds in Marondera.

When N’ombeyaora acquired the FC Hunters franchise for the PSL, the promotion-winning squad was gutted. Only Godfrey Dabgwa survived.

The rest, Stephen Makatuka, Cabby Kamhapa, Denzel Murape, Willness Nyangulu, Kudzai Taipi, Trust Masawi, and promotion coach Clifford Dzvairo — were shown the door.

Fans haven’t forgotten.

Saruchera stuck with the core he trusted from the 2025 Northern Region Soccer League, where they finished second. But supporters saw it differently back then. To many in the Marondera Chapter, it felt like the club had “moved” to Harare. Their Division One heroes were gone.

Yesterday brought it all back.

After the final whistle in Kwekwe, the FC Hunters Marondera Chapter WhatsApp group exploded. Angry fans are now demanding a public apology from the club leadership, calling the 6-1 defeat “unacceptable” and questioning the players’ mindset.

One supporter who made the trip to Chahwanda didn’t hold back. “We travelled for this? This is not FC Hunters. The players and the club need to explain themselves.”

Even Saruchera was shell-shocked post-match.

“It wasn’t easy for us,” he said. “This was my first time conceding six goals in a league match. Something fishy is happening in our camp, we need to investigate.”

Fishy. Fuming. Fractured.

The ghosts of the discarded promotion squad are back. Makatuka, Kamhapa, Nyangulu, Taipi, Masawi, Dzvairo; fans are asking if they would’ve done better than this.

One win in ten. Six conceded in Kwekwe. And a fanbase at breaking point.

For FC Hunters, the hunt for answers starts now.
