Should heads be rolling at Simba Bhora?

While the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is still in infancy, it is clear that all is not well at Simba Bhora.

The defending champions have not had the best of starts to their title defense.

One win out of four matches and only one goal scored is a shocking reality for a team that spent so much in the pre-season transfer window.

They might have lost reigning Soccer Star of the Year Walter Musona, Tichaona Chipunza, Vasilli Kawe, Tymon Machope, Albert Maneji, and Mthokozisi Msebe to Premiership debutants Scottland, but the Simba Ndoro-owned side also did some good business ahead of the season.

Joel Luphahla, who replaced title-winning coach Tonderai Ndiraya in the Simba dugout, signed highly-rated midfielder Blessed Ndereki, striker William Manondo, veteran midfielder Never Tigere, and Liberty Chakoroma, only to mention but a few.

Simba even lured Malawian national team first-choice goalkeeper William Thole to Shamva.

But things have not gone well for Go Buju Go.

They have failed to score in three of their opening four league matches in the 2025 season.

They also lost to Dynamos in the Castle Challenge Cup final.

But Luphahla is of the view that better days are ahead.

Overall, I think the boys are trying. They’re doing their best, and the management is also doing its best in supporting the club and the boys. It’s just a matter of time before we click,” said Luphahla.

“We had said that by game six, we would perhaps be at our best because some of the boys joined us after we had returned from South Africa for the pre-season. So, we are still trying to fuse them in with the rest of the team.”

Next for Simba is a tricky tie against in-form TelOne at Wadzanai Stadium on Saturday.
