Senong reveals key element behind his unbeaten FC Platinum start

South African coach Thabo Senong has revealed one key element that he believes has made his job at FC Platinum smooth sailing.

Senong, who took over at FC Platinum two months ago, has found a good rhythm at the Zvishavane side and is yet to lose a single match he has presided over.

Simply put, the former Sekhukhune United coach has left the FC Platinum top brass and fans believing that he is exactly the right man they need to reclaim their glory days and their place at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Under Senong, FC Platinum have now played five games, recording four wins and one draw, and are yet to concede a single goal.

Most recently, they demolished Central Region Soccer League outfit Blanket Mine 3-0 in a Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final, setting themselves up for a potentially explosive semi-final against FC Hunters.

But for Senong, it is FC Platinum’s already available chemistry between the players that has made his job easy. He believes the players had a bond that just needed a little tinkering to start producing results.

Senong made these remarks ahead of FC Platinum’s clash against Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

“Most important are the tactical elements, but I’m happy with the chemistry in the team. I’m happy with our preparation and we are looking forward to a very tough match against Chicken Inn,” he said.

“It’s a league match, it takes a different direction mentally, so we have to make sure that we are in a good frame of mind.”

Senong, however, is not getting carried away by how they have performed in the recent past, knowing that Chicken Inn are an unpredictable outfit, and he also acknowledges the quality that the Gamecocks have within their ranks.

“We should forget about the cup matches for now and focus on the league because it is important that we collect some points if you look at where we are in terms of the log table.”

Undoubtedly, Senong will expect FC Platinum to complete a double over Chicken Inn, who they beat in May.
