Scottland signs off as champions with rain-soaked win over TelOne

Scottland wrapped up their historic Premier Soccer League title-winning campaign with a 2–1 victory over TelOne at Ascot Stadium, capping off their coronation day in fitting style.

On a pitch drenched by persistent rain, the conditions played a decisive role in the opener. A Godknows Murwira free-kick skidded off a puddle, wrong-footing goalkeeper Chris Mverechena and allowing Tymon Machope to pounce for his 16th goal of the season. It was an opportunistic finish that summed up Machope’s sharp instincts throughout the campaign.

Just before the interval, Tadiwa Chakuchichi doubled Scottland’s lead, finishing off a well-worked move to place the champions firmly in control. TelOne responded in the second half with the pick of the goals — a superb strike from Tawanda Macheke — but the visitors held firm to ensure their final match of the season ended in victory.

Elsewhere, Washington Navaya concluded the campaign with 17 goals, securing the Golden Boot and adding a milestone to his 2025 season.

After the final whistle, celebrations took full flight. The new Castle Lager PSL trophy was officially unveiled, medals were presented, and the Scottland squad marked the occasion in style — spraying champagne on stage as they celebrated a season that will go down in league history.
