The Northern Region Soccer League, after months of nomality, is back in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
N’ombeyaora coach Nesbert ‘Yabo’ Saruchera has been fined US$5000 for his behavior during the log leaders’ 1-0 defeat at home to Agama at Ellis Robins last week.
Saruchera went berserk, arguing that the goal scored by Emmanuel Chambara in the second half, should not have stood as, in the reckoning of the veteran coach, there was a foul on the goalkeeper Dean Togara.
Referee Langton Makokova stood his ground, insisting that it was a fiar challenge and allowed the goal to stand.
The goal was the difference between the title contenders in a dramatic top of the table clash.
Police details had to intervene after the final whistle, as a livid Saruchera charged towards the referee.
The former Black Rhinos and Cranborne Bullets coach has also been slapped with a touchline ban.
