Revered Warriors fitness trainer surfaces at Hardrock

Revered Warriors fitness trainer Abraham Mubaiwa has surfaced at PSL new boys Hardrock FC, completing what looks like a formidable technical team.

Mubaiwa, previously with Highlanders FC, joined the Kwekwe-based side this month following the expiry of his contract at the end of December. His arrival adds international experience to the team, which is aiming to shake up the PSL in its debut season.

Mbaiwa is a product of Highlanders’ once-vibrant junior policy and was coached by Ali Dube, along with players that include Johannes Ngodzo, Mkhokheli Dube and Honour Gombami.

Interestingly, Mbaiwa, a former player for Highlanders, Chapungu, and Zimbabwe Saints, is also a qualified teacher, having earned a Diploma in Education from Hillside Teachers’ College in 2015. He also holds a Sports Science degree from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).

Notably, Mbaiwa was part of the Bulawayo Chiefs coaching staff when they lifted the 2022 Chiboku Super Cup, beating Herentals 1-0 in the final at Barbourfields Stadium in November 2022.

At Hardrock, he is working hand-in-glove with former Highlanders and Dynamos mentor Kelvin Kaindu, who heads the team, with assistants Prince Matore, Calvin Maphosa, and Isaac Nyabvure.

Munyaradzi Diya and Phumuzile Zikhali are the goalkeeper coaches. How they’ll fare in the 2026 season remains to be seen, but Mbaiwa undoubtedly brings experience.

Meanwhile, the club also roped in Wellington Mpandare, formerly Zimbabwe men’s football team manager, as their Chairman.

Other key appointments include Elvis Shumba as vice chairman, Edmore Mukoyi as board Member responsible for Finance, while Kudzanai Hove is the CEO.
