FC Platinum coach Joel Luphahla is breathing a sigh of relief following his side’s win over Bulawayo Chiefs on Monday, but he wasn’t pleased with a peculiar element as they brace for the upcoming Dynamos test.
Pure Platinum Play went into this game against the Bulawayo side needing a victory to relieve pressure on themselves, and the solitary goal from Ghanaian Emmanuel Dogbey was all they needed to ensure the win under scrappy circumstances.
That was only their second win of the season, which lifts them to sixth position with nine points. Though they won, the coach was not happy with how his team played, saying their performance was not good enough, except for their Cameroonian goalkeeper Manfred Ekoi, who made some top-drawer saves to keep Chiefs at bay.
‘WE WROTE OUR OWN LUCK’ BUT…..
Luphahla is particularly worried by the performance as the four-time PSL Champions FC Platinum prepare to face a litmus test against Dynamos on Sunday at Rufaro Stadium.
“I think sometimes, as a team and also as a coach, you take the three points even if the performance was not so good from us,” Luphahla said after the narrow win.
“And I think sometimes you need to write your luck. I think we wrote our luck today. And also, I think our goalkeeper was good. So at the end of the day, we are happy with the three points.”

WE WON FOR THE FANS SAYS LUPHAHLA
“Happy that our fans are also rejoicing today because it was going to be a dream Easter. But on Friday, we didn’t manage to get three points. And then we came home after throwing a terrible game last week.
“So I’m proud of the boys. I’m proud of the effort; playing three games in seven days is not easy for everybody. Even our Chiefs also played three games in seven days. But I think their performance in the first half needs to be commended.”
