Raza Signs for Seattle Orcas in the MLC

Zimbabwe’s cricketing talisman, Sikandar Raza, has officially signed with the Seattle Orcas for Season 3 of Major League Cricket (MLC), bringing his world-class all-round abilities to the fast-growing franchise league in the United States.

Raza’s addition is a major boost for the Orcas, who have been building a reputation as one of MLC’s most ambitious teams. Known for his power-hitting, street-smart bowling, and cool-headed leadership, Raza joins an increasingly global cast of stars participating in MLC — including big names like Faf du Plessis, Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, David Warner, and Marcus Stoinis.

The 38-year-old has enjoyed a glittering T20 career, representing Zimbabwe in several ICC tournaments and featuring in leagues around the world, including the IPL, CPL, PSL, and ILT20. His signing reflects MLC’s growing appeal to seasoned international players and its ambition to become a premier destination for T20 cricket.

Major League Cricket was launched in 2023 with the aim of developing cricket in the United States, home to one of the world’s largest sports markets. The league features six teams: Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, MI New York, San Francisco Unicorns, LA Knight Riders, and Washington Freedom.

In the 2023 inaugural season, MI New York emerged champions, defeating the Seattle Orcas in the final. The final saw a stunning century from Nicholas Pooran that powered MI New York to a historic victory.

With Season 3 on the horizon, Raza’s arrival signals Seattle’s intent to go one step further and claim the MLC title. The Orcas, coached by Pravin Amre and backed by cricket giants like GMR Group, are building a side rich in experience and flair.

For Raza, this is not just another league — it’s a chance to be part of cricket’s next frontier, inspiring a new audience while chasing glory on American soil.
