Barcelona opened the scoring midway through the match when Ferran Torres arrived at the near post to finish off Marcus Rashford’s precise low delivery from the left.
Rashford, who has been in fine form, has now either found the net or set one up in five of the Catalan side’s last six fixtures. His link-up play with Torres and Lamine Yamal gave the Spanish champions early momentum.
The hosts looked sharp at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, still serving as their temporary home ground until the Nou Camp renovation is completed.
Paris fight back despite setbacks
Paris Saint-Germain, who lifted the Champions League and completed a domestic double last campaign, were short of several key names. Injuries ruled out Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and captain Marquinhos, while midfielder Joao Neves pulled up during the warm-up.
Even with those absences, Luis Enrique’s side responded strongly. Defender Nuno Mendes surged forward before finding teenager Senny Mayulu, who calmly placed the ball into the net to equalise.
Mayulu, only 19 years old, has now scored twice in the competition – the other coming in last season’s final in Munich.
Decisive moment in stoppage time
As the second half wore on, PSG created several opportunities to edge ahead. Substitute Lee Kang-in struck the post before the visitors finally made their dominance count.
In the final minute, Achraf Hakimi’s precise cross was met first time by Goncalo Ramos, who guided the ball past the goalkeeper to complete the turnaround. It marked the first occasion an away side had ever sealed a last-gasp winner in European competition against Barcelona.
Ramos, who came off the bench, said afterwards: “We deserved this result. We played our football and were the better team. We want to win everything once again – last season is not enough, we want more.”
Early group picture
The victory moves Paris Saint-Germain onto six points after two matches, leaving Barcelona with three.
With last season’s treble winners showing their strength again, the French side could once more be the team to beat in Europe.
