PSG suffers multiple injuries ahead of match against Lille

Paris Saint-Germain faces another injury setback as midfielder Fabián Ruiz will miss Sunday’s Ligue 1 visit to Lille. The Spain international is being treated for an adductor issue, which forced him off during the second half of PSG’s Champions League match against Barcelona on Wednesday.

The absence of Ruiz adds to PSG’s growing list of fitness worries. Coach Luis Enrique confirmed that six first-team players are unavailable for the upcoming league match, highlighting the challenges the squad is facing in maintaining full strength.

Additional absences affecting PSG

Midfielder João Neves was originally named to start against Barcelona but suffered a thigh injury during pregame warmups, ruling him out for his third consecutive league match. Luis Enrique stressed caution with his players, saying, “I won’t take any risks with any player.”

Other sidelined first-team members include captain Marquinhos, winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and forwards Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé. Despite missing club games, both Neves and Kvaratskhelia have been called up for international duty by Portugal and Georgia. “I understand the (national team) coaches, because I was one,” Enrique noted, highlighting the demands faced by national team and club managers alike.

PSG’s current form and upcoming challenges

Defending Ligue 1 champions PSG are level on 15 points with Lyon ahead of this weekend’s fixtures. The team will rely on returning players such as goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who faces his former club after joining PSG in the offseason in a deal worth around €40 million ($47 million).

PSG travels to Lille aiming to overcome injuries and maintain their title challenge, while Lyon hosts Toulouse in the early Sunday game, with both clubs eager to gain an edge in the tightly contested league standings.
