Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has sealed a loan switch to Trabzonspor for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.
The deal was completed just before the Turkish transfer period closes on Friday and comes after the Cameroon international was left out of United’s first three Premier League fixtures.
In their statement confirming the agreement, United said, “We would like to wish Andre good luck.” The transfer is still awaiting international clearance and formal registration.
Limited role under Amorim this season
Onana’s sole outing this term for Ruben Amorim’s team came in their surprising Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby.
The 29-year-old had joined United from Inter Milan in July 2023 for £47.2m, brought in by then manager Erik ten Hag as the successor to David de Gea.
Since arriving at Old Trafford, he has featured in 102 matches and played a part in their 2024 FA Cup triumph.
New competition in goal at Old Trafford
His period at the club has also been marked by several costly errors, and United strengthened the goalkeeping department on deadline day by recruiting Belgian stopper Senne Lammens, 23, from Royal Antwerp for an initial €21m (£18.1m) plus add-ons.
Amorim, whose team travels to face Manchester City in the league on Sunday, now has Lammens, Altay Bayindir, and Tom Heaton available as goalkeeping choices.
