Nyandoro backs Ndlovu: ‘The players are in good hands…’ as Scottland FC make bold move

Former Zimbabwe national team midfield workhorse Esrom Nyandoro has thrown his weight behind Peter Ndlovu’s audacious move to join Scottland FC, as team manager.

Ndlovu, the former Warriors captain, had a lengthy stay at Mamelodi Sundowns where he served in a similar role at the Betway Premiership giants. In recent times, Ndlovu was tasked with monitoring Sundowns’ players on loan. However, he has now opted to return home, Zimbabwe.

While Scottland FC are yet to officially confirm, news of Ndlovu’s appointment has generated optimism in the football community, with many hoping the return of arguably Zimbabwe’s best football export will boost local football.

Nyandoro, his former teammate at Mamelodi Sundowns and national team level, has backed Ndlovu’s move to join the 2025 PSL champions, Scottland FC.

Ndlovu is Scottland’s major technical team appointment, following the hiring of another ex-Warriors skipper, Norman Mapeza, as head coach.

How the duo of Ndlovu and Mapeza, will combine at Mabviravira remains to be seen, but fans are already anticipating what they will produce.

Nyandoro took to Facebook, delighted that Ndlovu trekked back home. He said: “My brother Peter Ndlovu you have always set a high bar for us all and especially me. People don’t know this but your advice to me is always full of wisdom, I draw from you and always have my leader and legend.

“You have yet again set a high bar and I know you are going to execute this new role with so much honor and so much grace. The players are in good hands. Congratulations are in place my brother and keep soaring high above your dreams till you reach Greater heights.”

Meanwhile, Scottland have been playing their cards close to their chests on the transfer market, as the 2026 season approaches. They parted ways with striker Lynoth Chikuhwa, who had been on loan at Chicken Inn, as well as Ghanaian Frederick Ansah Botchway. The club also ended their marriage with Chief Executive Officer Ronald Moyo.
