No Hatter will ever forget Marv’s contribution, say Luton as Nakamba completes deadline day switch to Wednesday

English Championship side Luton Town have heaped praise on Marvelous Nakamba, describing the Warriors captain as a player whose contribution will never be forgotten.

The Hwange-bred midfielder completed a deadline day move to Sheffield Wednesday yesterday, after agreeing to terminate his Luton contract by mutual consent.

Nakamba, who was a crowd favorite at Luton, joined the Hatters initially on loan from Aston Villa in 2022 and made 20 appearances, helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League in the process.

He then joined them on a permanent deal the following year.

In total, the soft-spoken midfielder made 61 appearances for Luton Town.

“Luton Town can confirm that a mutual agreement has been reached with Marvelous Nakamba to terminate the Zimbabwe midfielder’s contract with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.

“No Hatter will ever forget Marv’s contribution to that success, with his song ringing around Wembley after he netted his penalty in the shoot-out win over Coventry City.”

Luton Chief Executive Officer Gary Sweet equally showered Nakamba with praise.

“Marvelous has been a huge part of our success, a special character who came to add real quality at the time we needed it to help us to promotion,” Sweet said.

“He has been a pleasure to have around the Club, always smiling, even through some tough times personally with injury.

“Everyone at Luton Town thanks Marv for his contribution in his three years at Kenilworth Road, he will always be a welcome visitor, and we wish him every success for his future career,” he added.
