Ndiraya’s shocking, but very well-planned Scottland exit

Tonderai Ndiraya was, as of last week, submitting his players wishlist for Scottland, to the club’s leadership.

The list was accepted.

Ndiraya was working hand in glove with his namesake Tonderai ‘Pound’ Sakupwanya- the chairman of Scottland, to prepare for next season, with the assurance that he would be leading the project again.

Stanza, as Ndiraya is affectionately known, was leading the recruitment process, as Mabviravira, fresh from winning a historic Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title in their debut season, prepare for life in the African safari, where they will take part in next season CAF Champions League.

When the former Dynamos midfielder went to sleep on Tuesday night, he was probably not aware that he would be jobless the following day.

To his shock, Ndiraya was told his Scottland contract, which ends next month, will not be renewed by the ambitious side and two hours later, the information was made public.

“We would like to confirm that the club and head coach, Tonderai Ndiraya will part ways at the end of the current contract. The contract ends at the conclusion of this season.
We would like the thank Coach Ndiraya for his remarkable achievements at Scottland,” the club said in a statement.

A source privy to ongoings at Scottland detailed how shocked Ndiraya was, when he was shown the exit door yesterday.

“The coach (Ndiraya) was preparing for the new season. He even gave the club’s leadership his wishlist of players he wanted to sign ahead of next season,” said the source.

“He was working closely with the chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ronald Moyo, in securing the players he wanted for next year.

“We were all shocked that the leadership all of a sudden decided not to renew his contract but it happens in football as he has to move on,” the source added.
