English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, home to Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba, are edging closer to relegation, in what has been an awful season for the club.
Nakamba joined Wednesday on transfer deadline day after agreeing to mutually terminate his contract with Luton Town.
The Hwange-bred midfielder made his debut for Wednesday yesterday, as Henrik Pedersen’s bottom-placed side were walloped 4–0 by a rampant Swansea City.
The defeat to Swansea was Wednesday’s eighth consecutive in the championship and they have now gone for nine straight games without scoring.
They (Wednesday) last scored on December 26 last year, against Hull City.
Nakamba, who was the only permanent addition to the squad in the January transfer window, faces the prospects of relegation to League One for second time in less than a year, having gone down with Luton in May 2025.
Wednesday’s relegation could be confirmed before the end of February- a setback which has left Pedersen’s future shrouded in uncertainty.
