Zimbabwe’s impressive run at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has been recognised on the global stage, with fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani earning a place in the tournament’s prestigious Dream XI. For Zimbabwean fans, it is a proud moment and a fitting reward for a bowler who led the Chevrons’ attack with pace, discipline and match-winning performances.
Standing at nearly 6ft 9in, Muzarabani was one of the most feared seamers in the tournament. He finished as Zimbabwe’s leading wicket-taker with 11 wickets and maintained an impressive economy rate of around 7.06, placing him among the most effective bowlers in the competition.
His performances were crucial to Zimbabwe’s historic campaign. In the famous victory over Australia, Muzarabani delivered a devastating spell of 4 for 17, helping bowl the Aussies out and sealing one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.
He also produced a clinical 3 for 16 against Oman, once again showing his ability to strike early and control the run rate in the powerplay.
While Muzarabani’s bowling rightly earned global recognition, another Zimbabwean star who lit up the tournament was opening batter Brian Bennett.
Bennett enjoyed a sensational World Cup, scoring 277 runs in five matches, making him one of the tournament’s standout batters. His campaign included several vital innings for the Chevrons, most memorably a brilliant 97 not out against India, the highest score by a Zimbabwean in T20 World Cup history.
Earlier in the tournament, Bennett also produced unbeaten knocks such as 64 not out against Australia and 63 not out against Sri Lanka, guiding Zimbabwe to famous victories during the group stage.
Although he narrowly missed out on the Dream XI, many observers felt Bennett’s consistency, composure and fearless stroke-play made him one of the players of the tournament.
For Zimbabwean cricket, the recognition of Muzarabani and the rise of Bennett symbolise something bigger: a new generation of Chevrons proving they can compete with the very best in the world. If this World Cup campaign is anything to go by, the future of Zimbabwe cricket looks incredibly bright.
