Former Warriors captain Knowledge Musona has admitted to being highly impressed by the quality of players in the squad, saying the future is bright for the country’s senior men national team.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star, who has made a return to the Warriors fold after announcing his retirement from international football under unclear circumstances in May 22, was a surprise inclusion in the squad named by head coach Michael Nees, to do duty in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Musona said the current Warriors squad has quality players and he is hoping to guide them for the sake of improving the team.
“ I’m feeling great, happy to be back and looking forward to the upcoming games. My first training was good and I’ve seen a lot of quality. I think the future is bright for the Warriors and I’m looking forward that I help these youngsters and contribute to their development,” said Musona.
“With this quality and this group, I think we are able to collect maximum points and it all depends on the work that we put in on training and of course in the match that is coming.
“I really believe that we have a team and personally I would love that we win these two games that are coming to stay in the contention of the World Cup qualifiers,” he added.
The Warriors will conduct their final training session at the match venue- Moses Mabhida Stadium this afternoon, before taking on Benin tomorrow at 18:00.
Nees’ charges will be hoping to revive their campaign, as the currently anchor Group C, having amassed two points from their opening four matches.
