Moving to South Africa was bound to happen, says Jalai as he sets season objectives

Warriors star back Emmanuel Jalai believes moving to the South African Premiership was a question of when, not a matter of if.

The roving right back joined Betway Premiership side Durban City after his contract with Harare giants Dynamos expired on December 31, 2025, ending the uncertainty over his future.

The Aces Youth Academy graduate, who was one of the few players to have featured in all the Warriors’ games at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON( finals in Morocco, was on the radar of several clubs on the continent, but ended opting for the Citizens.

“Moving to South Africa was something that was bound to happen. When you are playing in Zimbabwe, you will be expecting a move outside,” Jalai told South African media ahead of Durban City’s league match against Chippa United.

“So, I didn’t have two minds when Durban City approached my management and I’m happy to be here,” he added.

On his objectives for his debut campaign in the South African Premiership, Jalai said: “Team objective first, I don’t put myself first. I have to put the team first and the collective objective is to finish on a better position on the log.”
