Mohamed Salah has hit the 250 goals mark as a player of Liverpool, effectively cementing his place as a club legend. The Egyptian, who joined the club in 2017 and is nearing a decade as a Red, has broken several scoring records while also leading the team into a new era where their title credentials are no longer doubted after almost two decades of being in limbo.
Salah’s milestone goal was the opener in Liverpool’s victory over Anfield in gameweek 10 of the 2025/26 Premier League season. The former Chelsea and AS Roma forward capitalized on a defensive error to punish Unai Emery’s team, which set the tone for a 2-0 Liverpool win that broke their winless streak.
“It’s a great feeling to score goals and win trophies for such a big club. It’s something I don’t take for granted,” Salah said. “I’m so proud and so happy about that achievement.”
He added: “I said from the beginning – I know football, I’ve played for many years – I said it’s a very tricky season for us. We had a few new players, very good signings, but they need time to adapt to the old team. And we lost a few good players as well. We just need time to adapt and know each other’s games, and I think we’ll be fine.”
Arne Slot praised his talismanic forward, saying, “Yeah, that’s huge. That’s almost unbelievable if you score 250 goals for one club. If you score 250 goals, it’s already unbelievable, let alone for one club.
“You don’t see that much in football anymore. And I think apart from the goal he scored tonight, he had a very good performance because when we had to play long, we played mainly long towards him, and he could hold the ball. So because of that, the rest of the team could come to him, and we could keep playing.
“And what I also liked is that he didn’t only do his offensive work really well, but he helped the team out defensively as well. I think after he scored the 1-0, he was helping Virgil [van Dijk], I think, somewhere around the halfway line. And this combination of things led to the fact that I liked his performance tonight.
“And of course, it’s special for him to score 250. For him to score is not even that special because that’s what we all know he will always do.”
Salah then went on to speak about the result in general, which marked Liverpool’s first win after a run that lasted five matches.
“It’s very important,” the Egyptian said of the result, speaking to journalists post-match. “We had a few losses in the Premier League and Champions League, but I’m glad we started to come back on track now. It’s a good plus before very important games against [Real] Madrid and [Manchester] City. It’s a very important win for us.”
