Milan is confident of extending Maignan’s contract

AC Milan have intensified discussions regarding Mike Maignan’s future, following further talks held in Italy between club representatives and the player’s entourage. Sources close to the situation indicate strong confidence within the Rossoneri that an agreement can be reached in the near future.

The France international once again demonstrated his value on Thursday night in the match against Como, where he delivered a number of high-level interventions. His decisive display further strengthened the club’s belief that retaining him is a priority.

Financial terms and contract length agreed in principle

A key meeting took place on Saturday when Maignan’s agent, Jonathan Kebe, sat down with Milan officials to work through the structure of the proposed extension. The deal on the table would see the goalkeeper earn €5 million per season and remain tied to the club until 2031, with additional incentives that could increase his earnings by as much as €2 million.

Although the agreement has not yet been formally completed, Maignan has already given his approval to the conditions offered. He is now waiting for his representatives to continue discussions directly with Giorgio Furlani to move the process closer to completion.

Release clause ruled out as talks continue

One matter clarified during the recent discussions was that the new arrangement will not include any exit clause. Milan are planning a long-term commitment, accompanied by a clear mutual understanding regarding sporting objectives and expectations.

However, one unresolved point remains. The commissions requested by Maignan’s agent have not yet been fully agreed upon, preventing the finalisation of the deal. Further meetings are expected to take place soon, possibly within the next few days, to resolve the remaining differences and bring the renewal closer to conclusion.
