Mighty Warriors coach, Sithethelelwe Sibanda believes her charges are ready for their opening encounter in the 2026 Cosafa Women’s Championship against Eswatini.
Zimbabwe begin their journey in the regional showpiece against Eswatini this afternoon.
Speaking to the media at the team’s last training session ahead of the game, Sibanda highlighted the team’s fitness levels, saying: “After this training, the girls are looking ready for the game. However, as I alluded to you earlier, we’re not going to be 100% fit, especially considering the situation – the girls are just coming off-season. But we’re in a really good shape to compete.”
“We had a good training session, and we’re going to take each game as it comes. , We are focusing on Eswatini. We’re expecting a good game. As you know, nowadays there’s no room for complacency.
“Eswatini are in action, their league is on, and obviously, physically, they’re fitter than us. Yes, we may have dominated them before, but it’s not something to rely on.”
“We need to focus, and we’re taking it as a very big game. There’s no room for complacency, we’re taking it as a cup final,”added Sibanda.
Zimbabwe are in Group B with Eswatini, Botswana, and Zambia.
