The MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League hit matchday 15 with fireworks. Goals, shocks, and tight log battles defined the weekend as the promotion race and relegation scrap both tightened up.

League leaders Harare City FC showed why they sit top with 28 points from 15 games. A clinical 3-1 from behind win over Banket United stretched their lead at the summit. With 8 wins, 4 draws, and a +11 goal difference, the City boys are setting the pace, but Black Rhinos are refusing to let go. The army side were held by Marere to a 0-0 draw but remain 1 point behind in 2nd on 27 points.

Golden Eagles are flying high after a 1-0 win away to Black Mambas. That result pushed them up to 3rd on 25 points, 3 points off top spot. Their defence has been key – only 7 goals conceded in 15 games.
At the other end, CP Chemicals were involved in the match of the weekend. Despite scoring 3 goals, they lost 4-3 to PAM FC in a 7-goal thriller. PAM’s win lifts them to 14th on 19 points, while Chemicals drop to 6th despite having the league’s most potent attack with 22 goals.

Shamva Mine picked up a massive 1-0 win over Chegutu Pirates, but they remain rooted in 20th on 15 points. The miners are still 2 points from safety, with Marere FC on 14 and Zambezi G&C bottom on 13 after a 1-0 loss to MWOS U19. MWOS U19’s win takes them off the foot of the table to 17th on 17 points – same points as Highrange and Banket United.

Highrange and Cranborne Bullets played out a 0-0 stalemate, leaving Bullets 8th on 21 points while Highrange stay 18th. Chingwere FC also drew 0-0 with Batanai, a result that keeps Chingwere 5th on 23 points and Batanai 9th on 20.

FC Oden and Jumbo Giants shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, leaving both sides mid-table – Oden 12th on 19 points, Jumbo 10th on 20. G&T Mining edged Ngezi Stars U19 2-1, a big win that moves them to 7th on 22 points while Ngezi slip to 4th on 24. Rangers and Karoi United also played out a goalless draw, keeping both sides stuck in the lower half on 17 and 19 points respectively.

With 15 games gone, Harare City have the edge but Black Rhinos and Golden Eagles are within touching distance. The Super 8 Cup spots are hotly contested from 3rd to 8th, separated by just 4 points. Down below, Shamva, Marere and Zambezi G&C face an uphill battle, but MWOS U19’s win shows no one is safe yet.
