Juventus are ready to step up their search for a new right-sided defender and have identified Noussair Mazraoui as a serious option. Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport suggest the Bianconeri will formally request a loan move from Manchester United in the final stretch of the transfer window.
Mazraoui’s versatility makes him an attractive profile for coach Igor Tudor, who is keen to add balance to the squad. The Moroccan full-back is seen as a player who can contribute both going forward and in defensive transitions, which is exactly what Juventus are currently missing.
Tudor has relied on Joao Mario in that role, but the Portuguese is still acclimating to the demands of Italian football. Nico Gonzalez, meanwhile, has largely been deployed as an attacking winger, leaving the team short of options who can play the wing-back position with discipline.
Gonzalez’s future at the center of negotiations
At the same time, Juventus are pushing to resolve the situation of Nico Gonzalez. The Argentine attacker has attracted strong interest from Atlético Madrid, with talks between the two clubs ongoing for several weeks.
Juventus initially hoped to leverage those negotiations to secure Nahuel Molina, bringing the right-back back to Serie A after his successful spell at Udinese. However, the player himself has shown reluctance to leave Madrid so late in the transfer market. With the 2026 World Cup approaching, Molina is hesitant to disrupt his place at Atlético.
Despite that setback, Juventus remain committed to sending Gonzalez to Spain. Sources indicate that Turin are prepared to strike an agreement even without Molina included in the deal, as Gonzalez is not considered central to Tudor’s long-term project.
Atlético’s own transfer puzzle
The Spanish club are also working on their own squad reshuffle. Atlético are reportedly looking for a new destination for Javier Galán, and his exit could clear the way for Gonzalez’s arrival. Should Galán depart, the Spanish side would create the necessary space to accommodate the Argentine winger in Diego Simeone’s plans.
For Juventus, this could accelerate discussions, as the priority remains to move Gonzalez before the transfer deadline. The Bianconeri view his departure as key to unlocking further squad adjustments, including the potential loan deal for Mazraoui.
