Highly-rated Simba Bhora centre-back Isheanesu Mauchi reportedly rejected a move to Scottland, insisting that he will see out the remaining 6 months of his contract with the defending league champions.
The 22-year-old has been brilliant in the Simba Bhora rearguard since last year and was among the eleven finalists for the Soccer Star Year award, after helping Simba to win their maiden league title in just their second year in the Premiership.
Mauchi, who has formed a formidable partnership with the equally impressive Webster Tafa in the Simba back line, has also been a regular in the Warriors squad.
Scottland, who are the guidance of the coach who gave Mauchi his Premiership debut -Tonderai Ndiraya, were prepared to break the bank for the towering defender.
However, the soft-spoken youngster instead opted to remain at Simba, despite Scottland’s willingness to pay a transfer fee.
A source close to Mauchi told Fanzone that despite Simba partially accepting Scottland’s offer, the player and his camp were against the move and were very open about it.
“Scottland approached Simba for Ishe (Mauchi) to the point that one of their executive members came to the Simba training session to talk to the player, but he said no,” said the source.
“He insisted that he is happy at Simba and would prefer seeing out his contract, which expires in December 2025,” added the source.
Mauchi was also on the radar of TS Galaxy, but the South African outfit did not agree on a transfer fee with Simba Bhora when they wanted to sign him earlier this month.
