Matty Cash commits future to Aston Villa until 2029

Aston Villa has confirmed that Matty Cash has extended his stay at the club by signing a new contract lasting three and a half years, keeping him at Villa Park until 2029.

The right-back first arrived from Nottingham Forest in 2020 and has since become one of Villa’s key players. Over the course of his spell in Birmingham, he has featured in 193 matches wearing claret and blue.

Cash’s previous deal was due to run out in 2027, but his consistent performances convinced the club to secure his future for an additional two years.

Impact on the pitch and growing confidence

The Poland international has made an impression both defensively and going forward. He netted his second goal of the current season in the recent 1-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday.

Reflecting on his form, Cash said he feels full of belief and composure during matches. “I’m playing with a lot of confidence,” he remarked after the win.

He also explained that shooting has always been one of his strengths, but it is only now that he has begun to demonstrate it regularly in competitive games. “Every time I get the ball around the box, I feel confident I can hit the target,” he added.

International experience and leadership

The 28-year-old has also established himself as a regular for the Polish national team. Born in England to a Polish mother, Cash chose to represent Poland at the international level.

He made his senior debut in 2021 and has been a consistent presence ever since, including at the 2022 World Cup. His commitment and energy on the field have earned him a trusted role for both club and country.

With his future at Aston Villa now secure, Cash looks set to continue playing a vital part in Unai Emery’s plans for the coming seasons.
