Brazilian youngster Estevao Willian, who scored Chelsea’s second goal against Liverpool in their latest Premier League clash to win the game for the Blues, expressed happiness at his side’s victory, aided by his goal.
Estevao scored in additional time after the regular 90 minutes were up, helping Chelsea to seal three points after it looked like Liverpool was going to bag a point in the game. Midfielder Moises Caicedo had opened the scoring for the hosts, only for Cody Gakpo to help the Reds come back. As the match looked to be on its way to an even end, Estevao popped up in the right place to win the game for his side.
“Oh wow,” Estevao, who was introduced from the bench by Enzo Maresca as the clock ticked over to 75 minutes, said. “I’m just so, so happy.”
“I’m grateful to God, to my family, to all my teammates, to the coaching staff, and to everyone else at the club who has helped me with my football here.”
“It’s an amazing feeling to score my first Premier League goal, and in such a big game, I’m just so happy.”
“I feel great right now, and it’s so good that the manager has so much confidence in me,” added the teenager. “When I went on, he told me to just play my own game and to try and make an impact. He told me to try and score or create a goal, and thankfully I managed to do that.”
“I’m so happy for him and for all the belief that the manager, Enzo Maresca, has in me.”
He continued: “Things at Chelsea have gone a lot better so far than I maybe imagined. I feel so good in training every day, and I enjoy every moment.”
“I have fantastic teammates and coaching staff around me that help me each day, and it’s very helpful that I have my family with me, and they’ve helped me really settle into life in England and the Premier League.”
“I couldn’t be happier!”
Willy Caballero, who spoke on behalf of Enzo Maresca in the post-match interviews and press conferences, expressed satisfaction on behalf of the coaching team over the teenager’s performance.
“He is a really good kid, very happy and always smiling,” explained Caballero, who undertook the post-match media duties after head coach Enzo Maresca was shown a second yellow card.”
“So it’s always good, and we are so happy for him because we needed it, and he did it. He needed his goal, too.”
