Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will serve a one-game touchline suspension following his red card during the dramatic Premier League triumph over Liverpool.
The Italian coach received a second yellow card from Anthony Taylor after he stepped beyond the technical area to join his players in celebrating Estevao Willian’s decisive strike deep into stoppage time.
The incident occurred shortly after the 95th minute at Stamford Bridge, where the Blues sealed a crucial victory against the defending champions.
FA statement and disciplinary action
According to the Football Association, the head coach admitted the misconduct charge and accepted the standard punishment.
The governing body explained that Maresca’s conduct involved inappropriate language and/or behavior that resulted in his removal from the touchline in the closing moments of the contest.
In addition to the suspension, he has been ordered to pay an £8,000 fine.
Previous booking and upcoming absence
Earlier in the match, the 45-year-old was cautioned for showing dissent towards the officials, which ultimately contributed to his dismissal.
Maresca will now miss Chelsea’s weekend trip to the City Ground, where Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest will host the west London side.
Assistant coach Willy Caballero is set to take charge on the sidelines in his place.
Second ban of Maresca’s Premier League tenure
This is not the first time Maresca has faced a suspension since taking over at Stamford Bridge.
His initial touchline ban came in April 2025 when he collected a third caution of the season while celebrating Pedro Neto’s late goal at Fulham.
