Man on a ledge: Mwaruwari relieved after Wadzanai stalemate

‎Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari is breathing a sigh of relief after his side managed to escape Wadzanai Stadium with a point, holding Simba Bhora to a goalless draw in a week 4 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter played yesterday.

‎The Bosso gaffer is under immense pressure after four consecutive draws, with his side winless in the new campaign.

‎Mwaruwari, who narrowly escaped a missile thrown by a disgruntled fan in their last home match against MWOS at Babourfields Stadium on Wednesday, described the point as “a point gained”, acknowledging the difficulty of playing at Wadzanai Stadium.

“Coming here to Simba Bhora is a difficult place to come, for me this is a point gained,” he said.

‎Unlike last week’s home match against MWOS, where they dropped two points, Mwaruwari felt they needed to capitalize on their chances.

“Unlike last week we were playing at home, we had a goalless draw, and at home we must have collected maximum points and as I said last week it was two points dropped than a point gained,” he explained.

‎Mwaruwari praised his team’s effort, which saw them earn a point in Shamva.

‎”Today I must admit the boys gave it all, you know the last three games, we went to Dynamos, we drew, we came back and faced MWOS, we drew, the travelling and you can feel the intensity they are putting in. They are working so hard, travelling, working hard like this in three games in nine days it’s a lot.”

‎Bosso are currently tenth on the log with four points, eight points behind early pacesetters CAPS United.

Mwaruwari is hoping the upcoming FIFA international break will bring much-needed rest and regrouping for his team.

“I think this break will help us a lot,” he said, expressing optimism that they can get over their current slump and start winning games.

“Sometimes you need to look at this, at the same time we are building and a lot is happening now. Hopefully we can get over this and start winning games,” added Mwaruwari.

Bosso face FC Platinum at home, after the international break.
