Lloyd Mutasa’s Heart Stadium Voodoo Continues

Lloyd Mutasa couldn’t be unluckier when it comes to the Heart Stadium.

The seasoned coach didn’t get a result with his beloved MWOS for the third time of asking at the Waterfalls facility. This time, his charges conceded directly from Joseph Daka’s second-half corner kick to walk out of the stadium empty-handed.

It was MWOS’ second defeat of the season, as they surrendered the top spot to Simba Bhora, who edged Herentals in a five-goal thriller at Rufaro. Simba now occupies the top spot on goal difference, as the two sides are tied on 40 points.

For MWOS, it was a case of it not being their day, as the only meaningful chance to score fell to second-half substitute Everson Feremba, who fluffed his lines to volley over the bar from close range with his first touch after coming on.

Mutasa admitted his charges were not at their best. “We had a few chances, but I think we were not at our very best, and I would like to believe it wasn’t our day,” he told the media after the game.

The soft-spoken coach does not believe, however, that the first loss suffered by his troops affected them mentally.
“Certainly not. After the defeat to Ngezi, we played a big game away at Highlanders, and we won. We also played against a stubborn Bikita Minerals and won,” said Mutasa.
