Lloyd Mutasa hoping to end The Heart Stadium jinx

MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa has not had the best of visits to The Heart Stadium.

The Waterfalls facility has not been the seasoned coach’s favourite hunting ground.

Last year, with the Punters and Scottland in a nail-biting title race for promotion to the Premier Soccer League, Mutasa’s son Wisdom missed a crucial penalty against Mabviravira in a contest which the Punters eventually lost 2-0.

Months later, Mutasa returned to The Heart with his charges to face Black Rhinos and was in a near fistfight with his then Chauya Chipembere counterpart, Nesbert ‘Yabo’ Saruchera.

The game ended goalless, but Mutasa and Saruchera were both fined US$2000 for the scuffle and told to keep their emotions in check.

Mutasa will lead his high-flying log leaders MWOS tomorrow at The Heart, against relegation-threatened Yadah.

Interestingly, it will be the first time the Punters play a game in Harare since they concluded a deal with ZPC Hwange to get promoted to the Premier Soccer League through the Southern Region slot.

MWOS will head into the clash oozing with confidence after back-to-back 1-0 victories over Highlanders at Babourfields and Bikita Minerals at Ngoni.

Mutasa’s men are three points clear of second-placed Simba Bhora at the summit of the table after 19 rounds of fixtures, having tasted just one defeat.

Yadah, on the other hand, will be desperate to return to winning ways and ease their relegation woes.

Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe’s charges surrendered a first-half lead to eventually lose to Chicken 2-1 at Luveve last week.
