Liverpool have dismissed Bayern Munich’s efforts to sign Luis Diaz during the current transfer window. The German club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, approached the English champions, but was told the Colombian forward is not available and no negotiations will be considered.
This isn’t the first time Diaz has attracted attention this summer. Earlier, Barcelona made a similar inquiry, which Liverpool also declined. The Premier League side remains firm in its stance that the 28-year-old will remain at Anfield.
Key player in Liverpool’s recent triumph
Since joining from Porto in 2022, Diaz has become a vital figure for Liverpool. His performances last season were instrumental in helping Arne Slot’s side secure the Premier League title, finishing 10 points ahead of their nearest challengers.
The winger contributed 13 goals and 7 assists in league play, and ended the season with 22 goals overall across both club and international appearances. His influence on the team’s attacking strength has been significant, reinforcing the club’s position that he is indispensable.
Diaz addresses future amid transfer rumors
Although Diaz has drawn interest from clubs including Manchester City and teams in Saudi Arabia, he has publicly expressed his satisfaction with life at Liverpool. Speaking during a recent international break, the Colombian international said he is happy with the club and open to what the future holds.
He acknowledged that the transfer window is active, and discussions are ongoing regarding what will be best for him and his career. Diaz also noted that he’s willing to honor the remaining two years of his current contract if needed, or potentially extend it—depending on Liverpool’s plans.
“It depends on what they decide,” Diaz said. “If they offer a good renewal or I stay for the duration of the deal, I’ll be content either way.”
