Lewandowski weighs his future as Barça eye Kane

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski says he expects to settle on his future “soon,” as speculation grows over the club’s long-term plans for their attack. The 37-year-old’s deal is due to run out when the season finishes, leaving the Catalan side evaluating what comes next. Reports indicate that Barcelona are preparing for life beyond the veteran striker and are exploring options for his eventual replacement.

One name linked strongly with the role is Harry Kane. The England captain could be available in the summer, with a release clause of around £57 million set to become active as he enters the final year of his contract at Bayern Munich. Tottenham retain the right to match any offer, yet Barcelona are still expected to test the waters.

Kane considered the Successor — but Lewandowski still an option

This week, it was revealed that the reigning La Liga champions view the 32-year-old Bayern striker as the ideal follow-up to Lewandowski — the same player he stepped in for when he joined the German club. However, Kane has publicly indicated that staying in Munich longer remains a possibility, meaning Barcelona could also choose to reopen contract talks with their current No. 9.

Adding to the uncertainty, Lewandowski himself has not committed one way or another. Speaking to TVP Sport before assisting Poland’s opener in their 1–1 draw with the Netherlands, he explained that he is weighing his choices. He stressed that he feels no urgency and is comfortable taking his time before deciding.

Veteran forward feeling strong at Barcelona

Although he acknowledges that the later stages of his career are approaching, Lewandowski says he feels reinvigorated at Barcelona. He scored a hat-trick in the club’s most recent league outing against Celta Vigo and highlighted the positive impact of working with the team’s younger players.

He noted that their presence boosts his motivation and joked that he is older than the parents of some teammates, calling their attitude toward him both humorous and uplifting. Looking back on his previous campaign, he described it as highly rewarding, pointing to his goal return and the trophies he collected as evidence of his strong form.

Lewandowski emphasised that as long as he remains active on the pitch, he intends to savour every moment — not only in terms of performance but also for the emotional experience the game continues to offer him.
