Kwekwe United set to receive a massive windfall, as Jairos Tapera takes over TD role

Kwekwe United’s problems might be about to end, with Betterbrands reportedly set to inject cash into the struggling club, as coach Jairos Tapera returns to the picture as their technical director.

Though they are yet to confirm participation in the 2026 Central Region Soccer League, Fanzone has gathered that they are set to receive a massive stimulus for the season.

A coaching structure is already in place, with former Warriors mentor Tapera taking charge as technical director. The club is also scheduled to conduct trials on Saturday at Baghdad Stadium in Kwekwe.

Last season, Kwekwe United’s PSL debut was a disaster – stuck at the bottom of the table, they finished with a record-low 10 points from 34 matches — one win, seven draws, and 26 defeats.

In addition, they also failed to host Herentals on 23 May, and were slapped with a USD 3500 fine. The club’s woes triggered player departures mid-season and a coaching carousel.

Coach Saul Chaminuka left for Dynamos, and his replacement, Paul Chimalizeni, bolted to Agama FC after just three games. Masimba Dinyero eventually took the reins but couldn’t salvage the season amid crippling financial issues.
