Harry Kane both found the net and failed from the spot as Bayern Munich eased to a 4-0 victory against his former side Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season clash at the Allianz Arena.
The England forward latched onto a superb long delivery from Michael Olise before calmly placing the ball past the keeper for the opener. His fortunes quickly shifted when, in the 15th minute, he lost his footing while taking a penalty, sending the ball high over the crossbar.
Second-half surge seals the result
Bayern controlled proceedings from the outset and added three more goals after the break. Konrad Laimer stole possession from Djed Spence before finding Kingsley Coman, who curled in the second.
Midway through the half, Bayern introduced several academy players, with Kane making way. Seventeen-year-old Lennart Karl struck a precise first-time shot from the edge of the area for the third, and 18-year-old Jonah Kusi-Asare produced a sharp finish from near the corner of the box to complete the scoring.
Familiar foe for Kane
This was Kane’s second appearance against Tottenham since leaving for Bayern in an £86.4m transfer in 2023. The 32-year-old remains Spurs’ record scorer, with 280 goals in 435 matches.
New summer arrival Luis Diaz, signed from Liverpool, was also in Bayern’s starting line-up. Tottenham will open their 2025-26 campaign on Wednesday, 13 August, facing Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup in Udine.
