Jordan Zemura suffers injury blow as Warriors AFCON qualifiers loom

Zimbabwe defender Jordan Zemura’s availability for the Warriors’ upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers is in major doubt after another injury setback.

The 25-year-old full-back lasted only 41 minutes in Watford’s 2-1 defeat to Stoke City at Vicarage Road on Saturday before limping off with the help of medical staff.

ZEMURA BARES SOUL AFTER INJURY

Watford are yet to confirm the extent of the injury, but Zemura’s emotional post on social media suggested a lengthy spell out.

“Thought I found that old me again, unfortunately not, see you guys soon. God help me,” he wrote alongside a picture of himself leaving the pitch.

The setback comes at the worst possible time for new Warriors coach Ramon Català . Zimbabwe face Sierra Leone away in Morocco on September 24 before hosting the Democratic Republic of Congo at the National Sports Stadium four days later.

Should Zemura fail to recover, Català could turn to Divine Lunga or Emmanuel Jalai. Zemura featured for Zimbabwe at the Unity Cup and was looking to impress under the new coach. The Warriors technical team now awaits a full medical update from Watford.
