FC Platinum coach Joel Luphahla has made an open admission that they are buried in intense pressure to hit the right chords having managed five points out of a possible 12 points.
On Saturday, the four-time PSL title winners surrendered the lead twice, to eventually settle for a 2-2 draw with TelOne FC. For Luphahla, their campaign has all but been ‘disappointing’ as he was hired to restore the team’s glory days. But so far, it remains bleak.
The Zvishavane side lost their first match 2-1 to Ngezi Platinum Stars, beat Manica Diamonds 2-0, drew 0-0 with FC Hunters and then settled for a 2-2 stalemate with TelOne FC.
‘WE ARE UNDER PRESSURE’ SAYS JOEL LUPHAHLA

Speaking after their 2-2 draw, Joel Luphahla cut a sombre figure, saying his team is taking painful lessons on what they need to improve themselves in the PSL.
“And at the end of the day, these are things that we need to continue working on and make sure that we correct them. We are under pressure. You know, picking up five points from four games is not good for a big club like FC Platinum,” Luphahla.
“And I take full responsibility as the head coach, and I know that I’ve got a lot of work that we need to do. But I’m very confident now that we’re going to get it through, and we’re going to do it well because of the team we have here.”
Luphahla added: “But we need to make sure that we finish these opportunities that we get.Because if you miss more chances, when the opposition gets it, they only need one chance. They only had two chances and they scored on those two chances.
“We had a lot of chances, but we didn’t score them. So at the end of the day, these are the lessons that we need to take. These are the painful lessons that the boys need to learn from.”
