I grew up supporting Bosso and I’m honored to be their coach, says Benjani

Recently-appointed Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari says he is honored to be leading the Bulawayo giants as he grew up supporting them.

The former Warriors and Manchester City striker was roped in as head coach of Bosso after the club made a dramatic u-turn following the initial appointment of South African gaffer Thabo Senong.

Speaking after arriving at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo yesterday, Mwaruwari expressed gratitude and honor in being tasked with leading an iconic club like Highlanders.

“I think I’m more than happy, as you know that I’m from Bulawayo and played for Highlanders until junior level,” said Mwaruwari.

“I grew up supporting Highlanders so it’s a privilege and I’m honored to be the coach of Highlanders Football Club,” he added.

The former Jomo Cosmos striker promised to do his best to please the ever-demanding Bosso faithful.

“I know we have got the best fans and the atmosphere we all know it. When things are moving well, we will enjoy it and I promise to bring those days back,” said Mwaruwari.

Highlanders, who last won the league title 20 years ago, will be hoping that the former Zimbabwe international brings back the championship back to the club.
