Hwange Football Club kicked off the Southern Region Division One league in style, cruising to a 3-0 win over Bulawayo City. The ‘Chipangano boys were on fire, scoring their first goal at 13 minutes through Shawn Chabika, followed by a beauty from veteran striker Justin Kaindu at 23 minutes. They headed to the break with a 2-nil lead, and continued to dominate in the second half, with Quinton Longwe netting the third at 48 minutes.
Coach Njabulo Dube was thrilled with his team’s performance. “I’m very happy for the boys,” he said. “Last week we played them in the Dibula Tibula Cup and it ended 1-1, only for us to win on penalties. We went to the drawing board and the boys executed the plan very well. It was all about working on our weakness in front of goal, Today we did very well we scored 3 goals .”
Meanwhile, Nkayi United had a heart-stopper, being held to a 2-2 draw by Talen Vision. The Filabusi-based side had looked like they had the game sealed, but a Prosper Mathuthu error in the last minute gifted Nkayi United a point.
Other results saw Jordan FC picking a point against new comers Khami United , and Aqua Stars losing 2-0 to Megawatt. The action continues tomorrow, with Byo Warriors taking on Njube Spurs, and Bosso90 facing off against Victoria Falls Herentals.
