Highlanders and MWOS both sealed their spots in the Chibuku Super Cup semi-finals on Sunday after hard-fought performances in the quarter-final round.
At Barbourfields, Highlanders overturned a 2-0 deficit to Scottland and forced the match to penalties, thanks to goals from Learnmore Muyambo and a last-gasp equaliser by Andrew Mbeba. In the shootout, Highlanders held their nerve despite missing their first two kicks, ultimately prevailing to keep alive their hopes of lifting the knockout trophy.
Elsewhere, MWOS showed more composure in Chiredzi, putting aside any uncertainty to beat Bikita Minerals 3-1. Clive Kwangwari opened the scoring inside six minutes, and Arthur Banda doubled the lead midway through the second half. Bikita pulled one back in the 76th minute through Tadiwa Murasiranwa, but MWOS restored their two-goal cushion almost immediately with a well-taked free-kick by Wilson Mensah.
The victories set up semi-final clashes involving Highlanders, MWOS, Dynamos, and Triangle United, all fighting for silverware in this year’s Chibuku Super Cup.
For Highlanders, the win reflects resilience and belief — rallying from behind and handling the pressure in the shootout. MWOS, meanwhile, demonstrated incisiveness and composure in front of goal, showing why they remain one of the more feared sides in knockout competition.
With the semi-final line up now confirmed, fans can expect intensity, drama and high-stakes football over the coming fixtures.
