TelOne FC coach Herbert Maruwa has given a glowing assessment of his team’s preparations for the 2026 Castle Lager Premiership season , stating that their first five matches will shape their season.
The Wifi Boys face Dynamos FC at home in their season-opening fixture, followed by MWOS FC, Simba Bhora, FC Platinum, Scotland FC, and ZPC Kariba in that order.
The Gweru-based side has been quietly building their arsenal with high hopes of a top finish in the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season. Last season, they ended the 2025 season in fifth position and are hoping to do better in the upcoming season.
For this season, they have aggressively strengthened their squad, securing six new signings to address key areas. Their signings include goalkeepers Takudzwa Chikosi and Edmore Mawere.
Key additions for their top-four push include Farai Mutatu, Jerry Chipangura, Innocent Mucheneka, and defenders Marvellous Chigumira and Chelsea Nyakope, while retaining core leaders, Frank Makarati and Tawanda Macheke.
However, their first six matches are undoubtedly challenging, with coach Maruwa stating that their pedigree will be massively tested, and their season will be shaped by how they fare in the initial matches.
Speaking to Fanzone, Maruwa said: “Our preparations have gone well and we are very happy with the progress. It’s a new season where we will be hoping to pick up from where we left off.
“Our first match will be at home against Dynamos. They were below us last season, but they will obviously be different and wanting to rise again. But the first five matches will really test us and shape us as a team. It’s obviously going to be tough, but I hope we will rise above the waters.”
